DISCIPLINE INVESTIGATION ASSIGNMENT INTRODUCTION A discipline investigation essay gives students an opportunity to learn about the community that they would be interacting with in their near future. â€Å"The purpose of this paper is to investigate a discourse community I hope to join and to learn about the kinds of texts that community uses† (LLD100A Discipline Investigative Assignment). I interviewed a professional from a Health Department and used outside research for this paper, so that I can have insight of the field I am majoring in. The audiences of this paper are my classmates, instructor, and professors of the Department of Linguistics and Language Development. One of the industries they mentioned was the Business field, specifically, the list stated: Project Management. Project Management appealed to me the most, which is why to achieve the goal of being a project manager I have to complete a bachelor’s in Business Management. For this paper, I interviewed a professional named Angie Jones. Angie Jones works in the HR department at Palo Alto Medical Foundation (PAMF) under the physician service department. Because of this interview, I had the opportunity to interact and really get to know Jones. By the help of the interview, I will be investigating the roles, responsibilities, background, career path, the skill requirements needed for the job, as well as the daily duties for this position. Lastly, I will provide essential and important information regarding the management discourse community that will be useful for Business Management students.
