Descartes Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 250 words - 3

Descartes - Essay Example since it is beyond the realm of imagination to expect to separate the encounters that we have while wakeful, and the encounters that we have while dreaming; for Descartes, it is conceivable that we are dreaming while at the same time feeling that we are conscious. Consequently, hence, the questions that Descartes recommends in the fantasy contention are extraordinary and more outrageous than the questions that Descartes proposes in the faculties contention; while in the sense contention Descartes contends that it is just some information got from the faculties that can be questioned, in the fantasy contention Descartes contended and exhibited that all tangible information can be questioned. The underhanded evil spirit contention is more extraordinary than either the sense or the fantasy contention. This is on the grounds that, first, while the sense contention recommend that it is just a few kinds of tangible information that can be questioned, the detestable evil presence contention propose and exhibit that all tactile information can be questioned. Also, while the fantasy contention show that tangible information can be questioned, it can sensibly be protested that some straightforward certainties like the realities of science and geometry can't be questioned; then again, the detestable devil contention proposes that even the facts of arithmetic and geometry can be questioned on the grounds that these facts might be only misleadings of a malicious virtuoso. While the malevolent devil contention can mislead Descartes in the entirety of his convictions, the abhorrent evil spirit, in any case, can't misdirect Descartes into accepting that he doesn’t exist. This is on the grounds that for Descartes, presence is a pre-state of questioning; as indicated by Descartes, one should exist before questioning. Therefore, Descartes contended that, since he can question, this implies he exists. Descartes, in this manner, inferred that the abhorrent evil spirit can't bamboozle him into accepting that he doesn’t exist. The primary trouble for Descartes’ philosophical venture is representing how human body and human psyche cooperate. In offering clarification to how human psyche and human body interface,

Where these niches exist, they more than likely don’t have the potential to attract a large following. As a result, bloggers have to find ways to make their voice stand out in the crowded blogging scene. Here are some ways to help you achieve exactly that.Be inspired, don’t copyChecking out the competition and assessing their strengths and weaknesses compared to yours is an important aspect of just about every web project, from personal websites to ecommerce stores. Blogs are no exception, but beware not to simply copy what you r peers are doing. Besides being plagiarism, the key point here is that it’s a sure-fire way to blend in with the crowd, rather than stand out from it. In terms of content, it can be tempting to jump onto the bandwagon of whatever topic is trending in your blog’s niche, but don’t succumb to re-hashing the same content. The trick is to take inspiration from that topic area and develop content from an angle that’s original as possible. Give readers a reason to choose your blog over another; give them material they can’t get anywhere else.Choose a killer nameFirst impressions count, especially with the name of your blog. Because web users will see your name before the blog itself, it’s absolutely crucial that it not only reflects what it’s about, but is original and memorable as well. The role of determining your target audience is often overlooked, but putting yourself in the shoes of your intended readers when selecting your name is vital. Consider the difference betwee n the names “Tying The Knot” and “My Wedding Dreams”, for example â€" they indicate the same topic area, but come at it from a different angle and clearly target different demographics. There is a limitation, however â€" domain names. Unfortunately the domain name for the title of your blog may have already been registered, especially if you want a .com domain. Therefore, it’s best to use a WHOIS domain lookup service to check the availability of your name ideas before you settle on one â€" there are several free options such as this one. If your domain choice is taken, you have two options: either attempt to buy it from the owner, or choose another good domain name.READ5 Best Tips to save money while buying web hostingHone your presentationThis applies to every facet of your site, not just your homepage. Like it or not, the attention span of most internet users is short, which should be unsurprising given the sheer volume of competition for most blogging topics. For this r eason, ensure you utilize plenty of images, graphics (including infographics), and videos to present your blog in the most attractive light possible. In addition to incorporating these multimedia elements into your posts, develop a strong and unified brand image with an appealing logo, banners, and other recurring themes. If you select the color scheme and design carefully to appeal to your audience, you can ensure that your blog will stand out for its looks as well as what it contains.Do your keyword researchThere are also ways to set yourself apart on the blogging scene in a more technical way. While social media, guest blogging, and other methods, are a great start when it comes to driving traffic to your site, successfully harnessing the power of search engines will take you to another level. By ranking on first page of search engine results pages (SERPs) for search terms most relevant to your subject area, you will experience far higher levels of traffic from people who care ab out what you’re doing. This is where keywords come in â€" they are a crucial part of how Google and other search engines assess the quality and relevancy of a web page. To put it in its simplified form: the more relevant your keywords are, the more likely your blog post will be ranked highly on Google. It’s easier to do keyword research than you might think. First, using Google searches for inspiration, create a list of phrases your target audience are likely to search for if they’re interested in your topic. Then use the free Google Keyword Planner to discover how often those search terms are used. Then, prioritize your keywords according to that search volume and relevancy to your topic and blog in general. Bear in mind, however, that a higher search volume doesn’t necessarily mean a better keyword â€" first ensure it is not too general, or is unrealistically competitive for your aims. Is The Cost Of College Getting Cheaper

Is The Cost Of College Getting Cheaper? by: Greg Yang on March 30, 2018 | 0 Comments Comments 535 Views March 30, 2018New research by The College Board says that the cost of college tuition is actually getting cheaper, compared to a decade ago. The new report, Trends in College Pricing, takes data through 2017-18 from the College Boards Annual Survey of Colleges and reports findings such as published tuition prices, variation in published prices, net price, inflation adjustments, and more. The report found three main findings, as originally reported by Forbes. The actual price students pay for nonprofit private four-year colleges is down nearly 5% in the past decade, the research says. For public, two-year colleges, actual price paid is down 5% since 2008. At public, four-year colleges, however, the actual price paid has grown nearly 35% in the past decade. Forbes notes that a majority of this surge took place from 2011 to 2012, which accounts for nearly half the total growth. STICKER PRICE VERSUS ACTUAL PRICE   One important distinction in college cost is the sticker price versus the actual net price, after scholarships, grants, and loans. Many students at both public and private colleges dont pay sticker price,† Jon Tarrant, a certified educational planner, tells Poets Quants for Undergrads. â€Å"Some receive substantial need-based aid, especially at highly selective colleges, that claim to be need blind and meet 100% of demonstrated need. Other schools offer substantial merit aid or tuition discounts even to students who are not particularly meritorious.† Tarrant says merit scholarships or tuition discounts are upwards of 50% of tuition. In 2017-18, full-time students at public two-year colleges received an average of about $3,900 in grant aid and federal education tax credits and deductions, according to The College Board. On average after grant aid, students must cover about $8,070 in living expenses.    THE REALITY BEHIND THE STICKER PRICE Scholarships and grants lower the price of a college education for students, but that doesn’t that doesn’t necessarily mean students are saving a whole lot of money. Paul Wrubel, a Stanford University Ph.D. and a recognized expert in college financial aid and college funding issues, tells PQU  that there are a number of other factors that affect the cost of college and make sticker price â€Å"largely irrelevant.† For one, according to The New York Times, only 19% of full-time students at most public universities earn a bachelor’s degree in four years. At private schools, the rate is slightly better, but not totally encouraging. According to a 2015 report from the Student Clearinghouse Research Center, only about 53% of students that enrolled in private and public universities graduated after six years. Wrubel says this results in billions of dollars lost in actual and â€Å"opportunity costs.â€Å"This reality overrides any claim th at the cost of colleges has trended down over the last decade,† he says. â€Å"Add to this the further reality that many colleges, stressed by financial issues, knowingly admit students who are likely to fail, but who will pay while failing often using student loans. In this way the college gets some risk-free money while the failed student has to grapple with significant debt that affects his credit and a host of other things. It is higher educations version of a sub-prime mortgage.† In addition, Wrubel says, financial aid such as the Pell Grant has failed to keep up with inflation over the years. â€Å"Not only has the value of the Pell Grant to low income students not kept up with inflation but in the early days, a Pell Grant was sufficient to pay the lions share of most public college tuition bills,† Wrubel continues. â€Å"Since 1972, the Pell Grant and other forms of grant aid have not kept pace with inflationary college costs so as a practical matter r egardless of how you cut it, college is more expensive to most consumers.† WHATS WITH THE FOUR-YEAR PUBLIC UNIVERSITIES?The main reason behind why public four-year costs have gone up over the years is because of the 2008 recession. The average state spent 16% less per student in 2017 than it did in 2008, according to the Center on Budget and Policy August 2017 report.â€Å"They [public schools] were forced to raise tuition and fees following the 2008-09 recession when states drastically cut aid to education,† Jeff Levy, a certified education planner and founder of Personal College Admissions, tells PQU. While private school costs may be going down, Levy says a majority of undergraduate students in the U.S. attend public colleges and universities (roughly 78%). â€Å"It is in this sector [public] where net price has risen most sharply, driving up the number of borrowers and the average student loan debt,† Levy says. â€Å"As the cost of college rises and famil y income remains flat, borrowing will necessarily increase.† Increased costs at public schools has had a number of impacts in addition to loan debt. For one, as the costs of a degree increase, so does the pressure of making sure that degree pays off. â€Å"Many families look closely at maximizing their return on investment, and this certainly affects the majors that many high school students are considering,† Levy says. As a result, certain majors, such as engineering, computer science, business, and pre-med, have seen significant increases in student demand. But, Levy says, there’s concern in that too. â€Å"The problem is that several of these require six years or more of postsecondary education,† he says. â€Å"Trying to predict trends in sector pay scales this many years out is fairly impossible to do. The best advice is still that students should study what they love as undergraduates, not what they think will earn them a big paycheck.†DONT BE FOOLED BY THE COST OF PRIVATE, NONPROFIT SCHOOLSActual costs at private four-year institutions have decreased nearly 5% over the past decade, according The College Board. However, according to Brian Taylor, managing director of Ivy Coach, an elite college consulting firm, not all private four-year institutions are the same. There are many private, nonprofit, four-year colleges in the United States,† he says. â€Å"Most are not highly selective. In fact, most arent particularly good at all.† At the end of the day, colleges are businesses. If they have to lower tuition costs to attract students and more business, Taylor says, they will. The only exception? Elite, prestigious universities. At our nations most elite universities, tuition continues to rise — typically at a rate higher than inflation,† Taylor says. â€Å"And these schools have every right to keep inflating tuition. The demand to attend Americas most elite universities continues to rise so why wouldnt these schools raise tuition? It is Business 101.WHAT WILL FUTURE COLLEGE COSTS LOOK LIKE?The U.S. college education is the most expensive degree in the world. While the U.S. has many top universities, it’s struggling to make the college degree accessible. Americans now fall behind countries, like Canada, Japan, and Israel, in terms of college educated adults, according to US News.â€Å"As long as there is no consensus in this country around putting increased tax dollars towards higher education, U.S. colleges and universities will remain among the most expensive in the world,† Levy says. â€Å"Without the financial support that most countries extend to higher education, U.S. institutions will become increasingly unaffordable and leave greater numbers of high school students behind.†DONT MISS: STERN UPS AID FOR LOW-INCOME STUDENTS or HOW, WHERE, AID WILL SLASH YOUR B-SCHOOL BILLS Page 1 of 11

Essay on The Ultimate Sin Exposed in Geothes Faust

Geothes Faust is similar in many ways to both Dantes Inferno and Miltons Paradise Lost. The obvious similarity is how each work relates to evil or Hell. Other similarities include how the villains of two of these epics are the most likable characters, and the use of classical and Christian mythology in each poem. Faust deals with evil when he makes a deal with Mephistopheles, or Satan. This deal is that Mephistopheles will give Faust whatever he wants in return for his (Fausts) soul. Inferno is a journey through Hell. Dante is being lead by his guide, Virgil, through the icy parts of Hell, to the center of the earth, while he climbs up Satans legs into Heaven. Paradise Lost is about how Satan is newly cast out of Heaven and just†¦show more content†¦In Faust, the Prologue in Heaven came from the book of Job, which came from the Bible. He also uses Christian mythology when he talks about Creations great circle. Goethe uses classical mythology when he refers to Muses. Inferno talks about three men who received the worst torment in Hell. These three men were Judas, Brutus and Cassius. Judas is part of Christian mythology, and Brutus and Cassius are historical figures. All three men betrayed someone, and thats why they were receiving the most torment. Judas betrayed the son of God, and Brutus and Cassius betrayed Caesar. Paradise Lost has many uses of both classical and Christian mythology. Some examples of Christian mythology would be when Milton mentions Oreb, or Sinai (alternate names for the mountain where Moses received heavenly inspiration), the shepherd (Moses), Adam and Eve, and many more. Milton uses classical mythology when he speaks of Muses, Aonian mount (the home of the Muses), and the river Styx (river that supposedly encircles the underworld in Greek mythology) Geothes Faust has a lot in common with Dantes Inferno and Miltons Paradise Lost besides the fact that they all deal with evil in some way. The use of Christian and classical mythology is very prominent throughout all three of these plays. I dont know if the authors intended to mix these mythologies or not, but it made the plays more interesting. You really have to

Research Question and Literature Review

Question: Describe about the teaching and learning related topic that is selected is Development of numeracy skills for 4th grade student? Answer: Abstract Often with the course of learning it is seen that students are lacking basic numeracy skills. Therefore, it is required to develop the basic learning skill of student right from their childhood. Keeping such motive, the topic that has been selected for this research is Development of numeracy skills for 4th grade student. Fifteen scholarly articles have been included in this literature review and it has been found that enhancing the basic learning capability increases the numeracy skillsin children from their childhood. It has been found that agile approach will enhance the learning procedure by motivating more children in solving numeracy. Keywords Numeracy Skills, cognitive thinking, self-grading, statistics, development, virtual representation Research Topic The topic related to teaching and learning is Development of numeracy skills for 4th grade student. This topic has been selected because lower grade students find it quite difficult to solve numerical problems, and thus right from their childhood a matter of fear and struggling approach arise regarding numeracy. It is very common among students to hardly pass in the numeracy course and thereby ignore the learning process. This research topic will help in finding the gap in the learning process for the lower grade students in future. Research Problem There is a problem in the research taken, as when both the teachers and students are considered for being beneficial, there will be surely a gap in practice. For a teacher it may not be possible to concentrate on each of the students to distinguish the education deliverable. For students as well, approaches like direct instruction and agile approach may not be suitable, which will create more confusion. Despite of the fact that teachers are trying to get idea from students background and their ability to solve numeracy, still it will become hard for teachers to apply those for each student as they have a limited time to educate students. This problem has negatively impacted on the teachers in their professional career and partially for students as well because teachers may be under too much pressure to handle each student, which will create a gap between both teacher and student.Direct teaching will need to concentrate on each of the student that will need more amount of time and thu s creating more pressure on individual teachers, which may impact on numeracy development for 4th grade students.A possible cause of this problem is students were not categorized or classes of students were not grouped, and so each of the students was taken into concern, which will be too much impractical in practice. Perhaps a study, which investigates category of student by Q method and interviews, could remedy the situation. Purpose Statement The purpose of this research is to identify how operations and algebraic thinking capabilities for the students from 3rd to 5th grade can be upgraded in future. Moreover, it is quite common that professional teachers are not able to deliver assistance to all students within limited timeframe. Thus, the purpose is to identify the kind of assistance required from teachers for upgrading cognitive thinking capabilities of students by upgrading the learning style for 3rd to 5th grade students. Furthermore, the purpose is to identify whether teachers are making any kind of changes in learning method for 4th grade students or not in the present system of education. As a conclusion, it can be said that there is a gap in education style with regards to numeracy. It has been found that teachers are not able to give enough time regarding numeracy skill development for each of the student. Though teachers have tried to apply agile approach in making innovative approach to education, still many students are not able to operate computers. Teachers have tried to introduce working pattern, which is a visual representation of counting, but keeping a keen eye on each student is a quite tough job for teachers. Research Questions What is the effect of direct teaching method on students development regarding operations and algebraic skills in 3rd to 5th grade students? Hypothesis Direct teaching of operations and algebraic skills will not increase test score for third, fourth and fifth graders. Justification of Research Approach Quantitative research approach is most suitable for research as this will help in understanding the gap in teaching professionalism. Relationship between variables can be identified and subjectivity can be justified by quantitative research (Learning, 2015). With the help of quantitative research, several conclusions can be drawn regarding the type of education style that is practiced by the teachers. Basically, there is a gap in teaching style, which can be understood by the derived statistical data from this approach. Apart from that, through the empirical studies, several options can be identified, which can be further implemented in future for developing the operations and algebraic thinking capabilities in 3rd to 5th grade student. Such data can be utilized further in future to make the professionalism and education style more concrete for 3rd to 5th grade students. Professionalism of teachers is even affected by direct teaching as the expectations of students are mitigated when teachers directly communicate with them. In turn, this will affect the teachers as well as more amount of pressure is to be handled by them if each of the students is to be taken care within a limited amount of time. Literature Review Focus on Numerical Disability One of the most important aspects of numeracy learning is that it must start from early childhood. If 3rd, 4th and 5th grade students are considered, then it can be found that such students are lacking basic numeracy skills, which are impacting on cognitive skill developments in their life. According to (Jimenez Staples, 2015), functional relationship helps in enhancing the common core standards of mathematics. Graphic organizers can only dissolve intellectual disability, which relates to the selected topic. Being an empirical article, the approach of T-test might not have delivered best results as there were more than 35 students, and hence relation between self-development and evaluation was not achieved satisfactorily. On the other hand, (Jimenez Kemmery, 2013), in their article defined that non-standard measurements like calendar and counting skills and working patterns help in developing cognitive skill development right from an early age in students. Moreover, it can be said that thoughtful visual representations helps in developing cognitive skills of students, as at an average students cannot go beyond limited imagination, which is found in the article of building numeracy skill in kindergarten by (Aunio, Heiskari, Van Luit, Vuorio, 2015). According to (Aunio, Heiskari, Van Luit, Vuorio, 2015), post hoc group comparisons help in relating the mathematical scales, where one student helps the other, and thus students get interested in the learning process. They have also argued that if the students are educated by visual representations, then it helps in creating the base of practical mathematical implications right from their childhood. In this way, when students are attracted in the learning process, then they even get interested in developing their skills. Moreover, according to (Culaste, 2015), contextual information, procedural calculation, and mental visualization help in developing the cognitive ability of the student right from childhood. Though, it can be found from the article that the metacognitive representation cannot be well configured through visual representations, specifically for numeracy, and so development can be reached by working patterns. Thus, it can be said that working patterns will help the tea chers to figure out which particular student is lacking numeracy skill, and in this way their skill will be developed. Furthermore, according to (Olkun, Altun, GoerÃ…Å ¾ahin, AkkurtDenizli, 2015), statistical concepts from the research show the practical picture of reduction in numeracy skills for children of 3rd to 5th grade. Teachers can understand how to deliver numeracy education to students by concentrating on each student through their disability and ability. From this article, one can find about the leniency of professional teachers and it is evident that teachers are trying to increase the style of education but they are not being to concentrate on every student, which has even been supported by (Aunio, Heiskari, Van Luit, Vuorio, 2015). (Jimenez Staples, 2015),gave the idea of functional relationship determination, which may not be fulfilled only by working patterns, and hence from the review it is evident that cognitive numeracy ability will be enhanced in future. Developing Learning and Teaching Ability According to (Mulligan, 2015), in order to develop numeracy skills, teachers need to take initiatives to go beyond basic numeracy skill development. According to him, data modeling helps in creating meta-representational competencies. Quantitative approach has been taken and statistical data shows learning development through informed judgments. Basic numeracy skill development does not take much time and along with that data-modeling has to be included to increase the mathematical judgments right from childhood. On the other hand, (AbdulhameedAufan Al-Makahleh, 2011), gave the idea of direct instruction for mitigating learning difficulties. As there are a lot of students with varying disabilities, professional teachers can only enhance the teaching procedure by direct instruction. Many times it is found that the students, which consume a huge time, cannot figure out logical representations. Thus, it will be better for the teacher to give direct instruction to solve such numeracy fro m where students get ideas to solve future numerical problems. (Garcia-Retamero, Galesic, Ghazal, Schulz, Cokely, 2012),pointed out through his article about the outcome of Berlin Psychometric Test. This test gave the view about how students feel while solving numerical problems. From this article it was found that students eventually take longer time in solving patterns and logical representations. Thus, it can be said that (Jimenez Kemmery, 2013), gave the practical approach in solving numerical problems through working patterns and logical representations. It is quite evident that students need to get better assistance and better considerations from teachers in solving logical numeracy. According to (Van Hoof, Verschaffel, Van Dooren, 2015), natural number bias is another aspect that confuses students. There are several formulas for natural numbers and rational numbers numeracy and hence students get confused in solving such problems. Hence, it can be said that teachers need to work over here to mitigate such confusions, but this article does not provide the method to enhance traditional learning procedure. On the other hand, (Skwarchuk, Sowinski, LeFevre, 2014), give the idea that agile approach must be included in the education system. The approach of virtual representation helps in increasing the attraction of children. According to them, virtual approach is very much necessary in this era as traditional means of learning has saturated the process of learning. In their method of quantitative approach, they gave the view that children are considerably taking less time in solving patterns as they need not create illustrations in minds. This is an innovative appro ach in numeracy education, which was found to be required by (Mulligan, 2015). Thus, from the articles it can be said that students will get better learning approaches with the initiative of virtual representations through the agile approach. In this way, the selected topic will be justified, as students will get best assistance in future. Activities for Numeracy Skill Development According to (Skwarchuk, Sowinski, LeFevre, 2014), formal home learning activities are one of the best ways to increase the learning capabilities of children. Most of the time, it is found that children lack assistance from their parents who are busy in jobs. Parents feel students cannot get motivation in solving numeracy unless parents play an active role. On the other hand, they contradicted that due to their busy life they are unable to spend time with their wards and often experience a feeling of frustration, leading to a gap between parents and children. Thus, it can be said that professional teachers are best for creating the base of numeracy of students. On the other hand, (Toll, Luit, Johannes, 2013), pointed out that limited working memory skills will decrease the complexity of the learning procedure. They believe that students will get more time in solving basic numeracy right from kindergarten if working memory is optimized. In their quantitative approach, they went thro ugh multivariable analysis and found that cognitive skills and self-developing are developed by limiting the complexity. Thus, it can be said that through changes in learning procedure children will be more accompanied by teachers and thereby enhance the style of numeracy skill development. According to (Brinkman, Gregory, Harris, Hart, Blackmore, Janus, 2013), early development is instrumental for numeracy skill enhancement, which will increase the motivation of children towards increasing their skill. In this empirical article, the dependent variable such as development has been viewed to be increased with respect to kindergarten children just with the change method in learning development. Earlier, Electronic Data Interchange methods were quite traditional and that does not fit with the standard school assessment at present. This study was conducted in Australia, where they feltthat the education system needs to undergo change from an initial stage so that the base of students can be made concrete right from the start. On the other hand, (Van Hoof, Verschaffel, Van Dooren, 2015), gave the view that numeracy development does not need to be changed from kindergarten, as this will hamper the basic numeracy skill development. This research-based article gives the view of early numeracy skill development from 3rd grade. According to them, the statistical analysis gave the view of early skill development and the variance is prominent from 3rd grade students as such students have the capability of data-modeling and logical representation ability. This idea has been supported by (Davenport Johnston, 2015) as well. According to them, professional teachers get the idea from the article as to where contingency educational skill can be applied for distinct student. They also contradicted that intervention strategy may not be beneficial for teachers, as application of this will decrease confidence of students. This can be termed as the weakness for teachers in professional life. From the analysis, it can be concluded that development of early numeracy skill can be well achieved if professionals take initiatives. Measures such as virtual approach, direct instruction and working pattern will surely enhance the learning procedure. References AbdulhameedAufan Al-Makahleh, A. (2011). Sergei Rachmaninoffs Piano Concerto #2 Essay Example For Students

Sergei Rachmaninoffs Piano Concerto #2 Essay Ashley DonesBaker CollegeOct 8,2017Sergei Rachmaninoffs Piano Concerto #2Last night I had the pleasure of attending one of the worlds famous composers Mr. Sergei Rachmaninoff and view his famous Piano Concerto # 2. The beautiful Anna Fedorova opened the piece as the soloist for the piano (Youtube,2017). The conductor of the piece does a marvelous job of queuing in the orchestra to accompany the solo piano opening. It is rather sensual and inviting. Creating a wave of deep emotions that fill the theater as the tempo begins to quickly speed up (Kamien,2015). The first movement, perhaps the most famous, is just the beginning of a creative display of virtuosic piano playing built into a romantically reminiscent orchestra (Classic Cat. 2017). It rings in a central theme, creates a dark mood, and commences the concerto on good terms. What is perhaps most exciting about the first movement is the tension created in the middle of the piece that adds up to a highly climactic twist; hearing each of the instruments raise the emphasis on intensity, abrasiveness, and virtuosity while still maintaining control. (Classic Cat. 2017).This is just the first movement. The second movement slows down the moderately quick paced tempo used in movement one and focuses on resting the listeners mind and preparing it for the final part. It shows more of an expression of romanticism rather than the first movements more contemporary virtuosic theme (Classic Cat. 2017). This is an excellent balanced move by Rachmaninoff, continuing a traditional concerto prototype: moderate, slow, fast. One may have a better analyze of the composers romantic side of the concerto, seeing that the orchestra still has some liberty and dominance, not being overly restricted by the piano, which would normally be prominent. This is another great choice in creating a perfect balance and chemistry in this concerto. (Kamien,2015). Listening to the first two movements is only a small preview for the outstanding finale. There is hardly any possible way the audience could prepare for the final movement, which goes over the top with virtuosity and commences into something very, classically turbulent, although the orchestra seems to know just when to grab the audiences attention and this is noticeable through the constant flurries of notes between the piano and the orchestra, snaking up and down the scales. (Kamien,2015). I would highly recommend to anyone who has not seen this performance before. It has amazing sound quality and the atmosphere is absolutely breathing taking. This might be one of the greatest masterpieces made by Rachmaninoff and possibly of the 20th century. (Classic Cat. 2017). How to Write a Sample APA Format Essay

How to Write a Sample APA Format EssayHow you write your sample APA format essay depends a lot on the topic of the research project. It can be a book-length dissertation, a short non-fiction account or a brief report for a test. Whatever it is, you will find some key points that you need to keep in mind when writing your sample APA format essay.First, in all cases you should use a well-researched article format. If you do not know what that means, it simply means you write the research article as a series of paragraphs that follow a standard format. There are a number of well-known standard APA formats, such as the ICAO, IFCS and HEPCA formats. You could also start with a sample ICAO format essay and go from there.Second, think about how to structure your sections. One way to structure your APA format essay is to put your main argument or question in the first paragraph, followed by an outline of your research results and conclusions. In this way, the reader gets a clear idea of what the essay is going to be about.Third, consider dividing your research work into chapters. These chapters might be one paragraph each. Do not write two chapters for one book. But don't start writing a chapter in one paragraph either.Fourth, add in plenty of examples whenever possible in your sample APA format essay. An example is one sentence that summarizes a particular point or concept. Avoid using words like 'theory'research' unless they are clearly relevant to the topic of the research paper.Fifth, emphasize some aspects of your topic in your introduction and conclusion. Often these can be free-form sentences without any specific ideas. The points mentioned above are just a few of the things to consider when writing your sample APA format essay. The main point is to keep it simple and clear.

No one wants to read large chunks of text without something to pique their interest. This function is already built into WordPress. All you have to do is access the admin area and choose Media. Choose the images and begin to add alt tags, titles, and captions.Make sure that th e text you add has your target keywords, but do add context around these keywords rather than stuffing them. Doing this will make Google unhappy! You should also know what to do with the other image fields WordPress offers.5. Those snippetsO.K. So, there are those basic snippets that appear anytime a Google search is performed a small amount of text that appears along with the site.I recently had a problem with gnats in a houseplant, for example. Here is a result from my Google search about these little buggers:The snippet is the text that follows the URL address. Then, there are rich snippets. These are little pieces that appear just below the URL, but before the standard snippet. These little pieces give Google the ability to give better results to a searcher to be more meaningful in some way. Rich snippets can come in a few different forms, but most often they are images or tidbits of information about ratings (by stars) or number of views, etc. Here is a page from a Google searc h on recipes for jamon:Notice that the first three results have an image or star ratings. These are the rich snippets that give Google more information. These rich snippets appear because they are programmed in to appear. So, how do you get started with WordPress SEO in the rich snippets department? Here is what you can do:There is a rich snippets plugin you can install, and no coding will be required. Schema All In One Schema Rich Snippets Author(s): Brainstorm ForceCurrent Version: 1.5.6Last Updated: March 12, 2019all-in-one-schemaorg-rich-snippets.1.5.6.zip 82%Ratings 954,422Downloads WP 3.7+Requires Hire someone to build these into your code.  Hiring someone may be preferable if you dont want to get your hands dirty, so that you can specify the snippets you want images, reviews, etc., and there wont be bugs that may gum up the works.6. Security   protect yourself from hackers and malwareWordPress is vulnerable because it is such a popular platform and is used by so many – this makes it a popular target. You need to take steps to secure your theme, your plugins, your file permissions and your databases. This is important for SEO, because search engines like sites that are secure and rank them higher. This is a simple act. Just install WordFence you will get monitoring and automatic security upgrades: Wordfence Security Firewall Malware Scan Author(s): WordfenceCurrent Version: 7.4.0Last Updated: August 22, 2019wordfence.7.4.0.zip 96%Ratings 135,846,747Downloads WP 3.9+Requires 7. Add a  cache pluginWhen people access websites they request information, and that information is then retrieved by the site so that the user can read it. This can be a slow process on the retrieval side if information/data is not cached, or stored.Using cache plugins allows information to be served up quickly reducing load time, which is always a good thing as far as SEO is concerned. Search engines do not like sites that have slow load times and wil l penalize them on SERPs. You can install W3 Total Cache for WordPress and resolve this issue pretty permanently. Or, check out our in-depth guide on this (link).8. Get rid of spam commentsWe have all had this experience. We are reading a blog post and then start to review the comments. All of a sudden there is a comment that has nothing to do with the topic but that is basically touting something else with a link. This is comment spam. You are vulnerable to it if you have conversation capability installed on your blog (and you should). Sometimes, especially if these spam comments provide links back to questionable sites, search engines will notice and penalize you.Again, the fix is easy and simple. Install something like Akismet or some other comment blocker. You want your blocker to check comments, identify those that are spam, and then report them. Most important, they wont show up on your conversation threads. Engage your usersTheres no better way to get started with WordPress SEO than by focusing on how long people hang out on your site or  blog. No plugin can do this for you. You are the one who must create great content, so that visitors want to stay and read/view. The longer you can get visitors to stay, the better search engines view you.Everything you post on your site or your blog must be considered a type of content marketing you want visitors to find your stuff interesting, unique, and sometimes entertaining and humorous. This means you have engaging ways to present information, lots of visuals and perhaps a video or two.DollarShaveClub.com has this nailed. The site opens with an explainer video that shows the value and benefit of subscribing to their razor club in a hilarious way. This video has received millions of views. The site also has a great blog, title, Bathroom Minutes, which keeps visitors coming back for more. Now one thing you can do with WordPress is set up an automatic display of other posts that are related to one a visitor is reading. So, if there is interest, that individual can access other posts on your blog and thus stay even longer a good thing. For this you just install the Contextual Related Posts plugin. Add social sharingYou have probably already provided for social sharing of your content, but, if by chance you have not, install the Social Media Share Buttons plugin now. Back it all upWhile this is not directly related to SEO, you can lose everything if your site crashes or disappears. All of your hard work is gone. Dont let this happen install a good backup plugin.12. Clean up your databaseEvery time you edit a post, WordPress creates another copy of it. And that includes all comments and other stuff that has collected with it. All of this takes placed in your database. Eventually, it slows everything down. You can prevent this and keep your load time up to par by installing the WP-Optimizer its free, and it will regularly clean up your database. WP-Optimize Clean, Compress, Cache. Literary Analysis of the Dubliners Essay Example

Literary Analysis of the Dubliners Essay Example Literary Analysis of the Dubliners Paper Literary Analysis of the Dubliners Paper Essay Topic: Dubliners ENG 301 Literature Analysis Title: Dubliners â€Å"Eveline†, James Joyce Cast: Main Characters: Eveline Hill, her father, her mother, Frank, Minor Characters: a man, the children playing in the field( the Devines, Waters, Dunns, little Keogh, her brothers and sisters, Ernest, Tizzie Dunn, Margaret Alacovaz, Miss Gaven, Harry and the organ player Character: Eveline Hill Caregiver: The character Eveline is portrayed as the caretaker. â€Å"She had hard work to keep the house together and to see that the two young children whom had been left to her to charge went to school regularly and got their meals regularly. ( Eveline to self, 37) Since her mother has pasted on, Eveline has had to assume the role of the nurturer because she was the only one that was capable of doing so. She was in charge of the dusting, cleaning and taking care of everything since her mother had past so to her this just seemed to be so routine to her, as well as living in Dublin for all these years this is just what she knows and feels comfortable with. Conformist: Her father seemed to be somewhat of a director towards her as well as does her lover Frank. He father doesn’t seem to condone her relationship with Frank. â€Å"The organ player had been ordered to go away and given six pence. She remembered her father strutting back into the sickroom saying Damned Italians! Coming over here! †(Eveline to self, 39) Her father is very domineering and tries to tell her what to do and that he seems to know what is best for her. He even goes as far as taking her paycheck that she gets from the store that she works at and from watching the children as well. She also seems to think that Franks will drown her if she ends up going with him as opposed to staying because she will have the challenges with a new marriage, a new home and possibly children. Oppressor: Paralysis seems to be another factor within the story. â€Å"She sat her white face to him, passive, like a helpless animal. †(Eveline to self, 41) It’s like she freezes when the opportunity arises to be able to gain from her new experiences. She can’t seem to let go of the memories which again is what seems to also be holding her back. She seems to have an epiphany when she realizes that he is gone and that she is going to have to deal with the regret of not going with Frank just to see how it would have been if she had made the decision to go with him. Loner: There are many senses that are used quite often throughout this reading. â€Å"Windows† is a common word repeated throughout. â€Å"She sat at the window watching the evening invade the avenue. † (Eveline to self, 34) This seems to show a reflection on her own situations and relations she has with other people. She hears the organ and it reminds her of her mother and how she lived and she doesn’t want to have a repeat of her life, but her impulses and the reliance she has seems to override the impulses. One other sense that seems to be reoccurring is hearing. She hears footsteps outside the window in front of the new houses and this again shows that there seems to be some sense of a loner town and that there is really nothing keeping her there but again her family. Survivor: â€Å"She gripped with both hands at the iron railing. (Eveline to self, 40) This shows that she has comfort in staying and surviving the life she has in Dublin. She had the chance to leave what she has always known but instead she decides to stay and live up to her word that she told her dying mother. Setting: Dublin, Ireland, 1904, an old room mainly setting in the window, the dock Plot: A young lady named Eveline Hill is setting alone in her home pondering the idea of leaving Dublin’s ordinary life tha t seem to be based on experiences to elope with her love Frank the sailor, but in the end she abandons him at the dock. Theme: â€Å"He rushed beyond the barrier and called to her to follow. He was shouted at to go on but he still called to her. She set her white face to him, passive, like a helpless animal. Her eyes gave him no sign of love or farewell or recognition. † (40,Eveline to self) Within this story, it depicts a young lady named Eveline trying to debate if she wants to stay in Dublin and what she has always known or to take an adventure with her lover to Buenos Ayres to live. This seems to be her only way to escape from everyone/everything and be able to have a chance to be able to start a new life with her lover Frank. This seems to portray some type of relation between life and death. The reason being is that Eveline seems to think that her leaving is in a way of that particular part of her life dying off and with her leaving, this is a way to a new life for her away from everyone in Dublin. She seems to be pondering the idea of giving up her chance at love so that she may stay where she has always been. Eveline has done the same jobs of working for other people, giving her paychecks to her dad and taking care of her brothers for so long that she is not quite sure how to really do anything else. She is so stuck in her routine with the way of doing things for others that she is willing to let go of her chance at true romance. It seems to be that they are trying to make her feel bad in a way of mental abuse so that she will not leave them. It seems to be so that she can have the chance to experience new things, such as moving away to be with her lover Frank and for once have happiness in her life. Eveline’s father as well as her brothers don’t really care or care to see what makes her happy. They are all in it for themselves. Her father and brothers have had things done for them for so long they don’t want to have to actually do something for themselves. Her family knows that if she stays, she will continue on with her daily routine. From this particular story, family seems to be the overall big picture for the theme. Everything seems to come back to the family. She does what she does on her daily routine because of her family; she does everything to help out her family even if it doesn’t make her happy. In the end she lets her lover leave without her because of her family as well.

Genetic Impact on Alcoholism Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 500 words

Genetic Impact on Alcoholism - Essay Example However, most current theory centers on the role of acetaldehyde in the body's ability to enjoy or reject alcohol. The Journal of Studies on Alcohol reported in 2005 found that the leveled response to alcohol among teenagers appears to identify family traits and holds the indication that alcoholism may be genetically linked. The study involved 487 subjects, of which 236 were male. The study was problematic by the need to study the alcohol effects on teenagers to establish correlation. Due to legal constraints the study was restricted to questionnaire. However, the study was able to establish a strong correlation between first degree relatives and the body's desirability for alcohol. The study used a Self-Rating of the Effects of Alcohol (SRE) Questionnaire. Subjects were required to describe the effects that alcohol had on their mood. The results are useful in establishing the need for further research. However, the research has been criticized for technical shortcomings in the small sample size of some groups as well as the failure to accommodate social factors in the study. Research reported by Molecular Psychiatry has focused on acetaldehyde as a point for the study of alcohol and its relation to genetics. Acetaldehyde is a product of ethanol metabolism.

Magnet Designation (Massachusetts General Hospita, Boston) Assignment

Magnet Designation (Massachusetts General Hospita, Boston) - Assignment Example It aims at demonstrating how the â€Å"forces of magnetism’’ required by the American Nurses Credentialing Centre are epitomized and show how the standards set for Magnet Recognition are met. Also, at the end of the paper my stance or personal opinion in regard to the organization discussed will be publicized. The notion of Magnet can be traced back to 1983 when ‘American Academy of Nursing Task Force on Nursing Practice’ personnel carried out a study to determine factors that attracted excellent nurses to continue delivering those excellent healthcare services and it is this that the organizations/hospitals that were studied, 41 were labelled ‘magnet’ hospitals because they retained excellent nurses although there was scarcity of nurses. This was the onset of Magnet Recognition Programme as the Board of Directors at the American Nurses Association permitted Magnet Programme to be managed and run by American Nursing Credentialing Centre (ANNC) in 1990. Massachusetts General Hospital is privileged to have earned Magnetic Status; a certification considered to be the upmost honour in the nursing brilliance. It swanks to have become the first hospital to have earned this (Magnet) status in the United States in 2003.Achieving this was indeed not a single event but an intensive process that involved so many stages. After the application was written and received, a meticulous evaluation was conducted by very conscientious and keen personnel from ANNC in which both written and observed proof to verify that the nursing services offered at the hospital met the standards of excellence at the ANNC. Support documents of about 2600 pages were forwarded to the ANNC; which convinced them to come to make an on-site observation (American, 2004). A team of ANNC evaluators finally came to the hospital and spent three days to examine service delivery, inter-group work relationship, adherence to standards of practice, leadership practice, and certifica tion

Why Ethnic Minority Women Stay In Abusive Relationships Sociology Essay

Why Ethnic Minority Women Stay In Abusive Relationships Sociology Essay The problem of abusive relationships has attracted national attention in England and Wales. Historically Domestic violence has a strongly entrenched patriarchal system, which gives men proprietary rights over women. Traditional and cultural values as means of resolving conflict are critical in shaping and perpetuating violence of men toward women. A womans social status is believed to be derived by her relative position to a man that is as a daughter, wife, girlfriend or mother of his children. One solution to ending the abuse and leading violence free lives would be to leave the relationship. While this is a possible solution it should be noted that in order for women to leave it requires enormous restructuring of material, physical and social relations strategies. What makes the ethnic minority women stay in abusive relationships? A qualitative feminist research methodology was used with a convenience sample of 8 women who agreed to participate in the study. In depth interviews were conducted with the participants to explore the perceptions and experiences of ethnic minority women in abusive relationships. A number of themes that emerged from the study suggested clearly womens perceptions and experiences to remain in their abusive relationships. These themes relate to commitment, staying because of children, cultural beliefs, economic dependence and lack of social support. Chapter 1 Introduction Domestic violence is a social phenomenon that is universal and perverts society at all levels, Hague (1998). Domestic violence is one of the most common crimes and is present throughout society, usually hidden but there none-the-less. Violence towards women by intimate partners is a social problem of enormous proportion. The impact of domestic violence is broad and substantial with serious consequences not only for the women who are victimised but also for their children and society at large. According to the United Nations Domestic Violence is an act of gender based violence that results in physical, sexual or psychological harm or suffering to women including threats of such acts of cohesion, arbitrary deprivation of liberty whether occurring in public or private life. The United Kingdom government adopted a gender neutral definition, any incident of threatening behaviour, violence or abuse (psychological, physical, sexual, financial or emotional) between adults who are or have been intimate partner or family members regardless of gender or sexuality. Activists working in the area of domestic violence reiterated that, if domestic violence is so common and the abuse that bad, why do these women stay with the perpetrator. The answer is perplexing and thought provoking and without being judgemental, can be painfully obvious. Professionals, including social workers who work directly with victims of domestic violence often find themselves scratching their heads at the decisions women make when they are victims of domestic violence and why they remain in those abusive relationships. The study aims to explore why ethnic minority women in England and Wales remain in abusive marital relationships despite the risks of being hurt, both physically and psychologically during the abusive episodes as well as the coping mechanism they employ to cope with the violence. This study emerged from a great interest that developed from an inspirational work with victims of Domestic Violence in a womens Refuge during my Second Year Placement in 2011.I had the opportunity to deliver a domestic violence awareness programme to the women in the refuge. The victims were mainly from the ethnic minority community. The women shared vital information regarding their experiences with the abuser. It is this indebtedness that has provoked an eagerness, to explore subject further. Aims of the study: To explore the lived experiences of ethnic minority women who remain in abusive relationships To explore the reasons why they remain in abusive relationships To explore their coping strategies in abusive marital relationships To discuss the theoretical perspective as to why ethnic minority stay in abusive relationships To identify the legislation regarding Domestic Violence in England and Wales To identify and discuss the implication to Social Work Practice To design a methodology Objectives: To determine the type of abuse that ethnic minority women in abusive marital relationship endure To explore how women construct their stay and the coping strategies employed to survive. To ascertain whether abused women in abusive marital relationships have access to support Chapter 2 😛 The researcher will review the literature Chapter 3: This chapter focuses on the research design and methods that the rearcher used in the study Chapter 4: This chapter will cover data collection analysis and interpretation Chapter 5: This chapter will cover discussion of the results and findings ,the wider question of the research and the conclusion. It will further make recommendations for future studies Literature Review Historical overview of domestic violence History reflects the enormous magnitude of the problem of violence against women. For centuries patriarchal norms dominated and women were considered to be the property of their husbands. Some postulate that woman abuse has its roots in Roman law, which permitted a husband to kill his wife if she committed a variety of offences (Stacey, Hazelwood Shupe, 1994). English Common law gave husbands the right to beat their wives with any reasonable instrument. These laws were maintained throughout Europe and America until the late 1800s when a few states rescinded this right. Domestic assaults continued and were termed domestic disputes. They were considered to be nuisance behaviour, not criminal. As a result they were not seriously in the criminal justice system until the past ten years when a variety of statutes were developed which specifically protect people from domestic abuse. Domestic violence and Patriarchy Dobash Dobash (2002) states that there are several legal and political ideologies supporting the idea that husbands have authority over their wives. The legal right of a man to use physical force against his wife is no longer explicitly recognised in England and Wales, however the legacy of the patriarchy continues to generate the conditions and relationships that lead to a husbands use of force against his wife (Dobash Dobash 2002).Patriarchal dominance is still supported by moral order which reinforce the marital hierarchy, making it difficult for women to struggle against the dominance. As a result womens struggles are therefore considered as wrong, immoral and a validation of the respect and loyalty a wife is support to give to her husband. The fact that Domestic violence is seen as a form of patriarchal dominance is irrefutable in light of historical evidence. The historical, legal and religious writings all contribute to the understanding of the status of women regarding domes tic violence. This status encompasses the explanation why women remain in abusive relationships. Culture ,religion and Patriarchy Domestic violence take on different forms within the BME communities (Richards 2004).Various tactics are employed by their partners to destroy self-esteem and prevent complaining or escape as echoed by Dasgupta (2000).Choudry(1996) noted that culturally specific abuse, includes threats to ruin a womans reputation among relatives, accusing women of instigating the abuse. Although domestic abuse tends to focus on intimate partner violence, However as Minhas 2002, Gill 2002 andGangoli 2004) observed that other members of the abusers family are cited as being involved in the violence. Violence connected to dowry can often underpin the extended familys involvement in the abuse (Dasgupta and Warrier, 1996). Cultural, social and religious norms may deter women from seeking help or exposing the problem through a prosecution, as they may fear censure from within their families or communities, or fail to receive the necessary validation to name their experience as victimisation (Hart 1996, Via no 1996, Erez 2000, Erez 2002, Raj Silverman 2002, Nicholson et al 2003). In BME communities, women face dishonour and rejection if they leave their partners, even if they do so as a result of domestic violence (Choudry 1996). A study in the Western Isles of Scotland (MacNeil et al 2004) demonstrates how some tight-knit communities can have strong cultural and religious norms which stress family privacy and non-interference, and attach considerable social shame to domestic violence, perceiving it to arise through victims failing in exercising family responsibilities. These factors can affect womens exposure to violence, and their ability to acknowledge its occurrence and seek or obtain community support. Domestic violence has been legitimised in law, religion, and in cultural ideologies of male dominance and womens inferiority (Gill 2004).In contrast, Hearn (1998) argues that although there have been some legal changes, cultural discourses of masculinity continue to inform mens justification for violence. In male-dominant cultures, the notion that women are responsible for upholding family honour remains a major force influencing law, religion and cultural values and shaping the nature of and responses to domestic violence (MacNeil 2004) For this reason it can be argued that in such cultures it may be difficult for women to leave or seek help to escape domestic violence because to do so would bring shame on the whole family and could result in community ostracisation.
